The Holy Quran and its Marginal Simplified Interpretation | A Group of Scholars

There was a pressing need in this era to write a concise interpretation that takes into account the principles and sources of interpretation according to the methodology of the righteous predecessors. This would ensure that it is explained in a way that would reassure hearts and make them trust it. The interpretation would be presented in a brief, easy expression that would clarify the meanings and objectives of the Qur’an. It would also show the implications of words and their structures, which are absent from the minds and understanding of the general public.

A group of well-known professors of interpretation were chosen to draft its first version, within the most important controls:

First: Interpretation of the verses according to the doctrine of the righteous predecessors in belief.

Second: Presenting the authentic interpretation based on the authentic hadith over others.

Third: Limiting the transmission to the correct or most likely statement.

Fourth: Highlighting the Quranic guidance and objectives of Sharia through interpretation. The expression should be brief and easy, while clarifying the meanings of strange words during interpretation.

Fifth: The interpreter should focus on the meaning of the verse and avoid the additions contained in other verses so that they can be interpreted in their proper place.

Sixth: Giving the meaning of the verse directly without the need for information except what necessity calls for.

Seventh: The interpretation is according to the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim.

Eighth: Avoid mentioning readings, grammar, morphology, syntax, and rhetoric.

Ninth: Interpretation of each verse separately. The meaning of two or more verses may be combined if the meaning is connected. Words of the Qur’anic text are not repeated except when necessary. The number of each verse is mentioned at the beginning of the interpretation.

Tenth: The interpretation should be to the extent that the margin of the Mushaf of Medina can accommodate it.

Eleventh - The interpreter should take into account that this interpretation will be translated into different languages and avoid mentioning terms that cannot be translated.
