The misers
Al-Jahiz's book, The Book of Misers, is a scientific, literary, social, historical and geographical encyclopedia in which he narrates the stories of characters he met who were known for their miserliness. However, there are some characters who are believed to be a product of his imagination.
He ridiculed the greed of teachers, singers, scribes and beggars in a lively narrative prose.
He described his characters in an objective, realistic, and intelligent manner that relied on humor.
He drew characters who were friendly and naive.
