Life of a pen
Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad
Al-Aqqad lived by the pen and for the pen. Literature and writing were his profession, which he was passionate about, and he lived from its earnings. He also believed in the power and sanctity of the word, and that by its light peoples are guided or led astray. Therefore, he made a strict pledge to himself to be a useful and beneficial writer. Thus, his pen was immortal.
Through the pages of the book, we experience the moments of the birth, growth and development of this unique pen. Al-Aqqad speaks briefly about his childhood years, his education and then his work as an employee, until he made his way in the court of journalism as an article writer in material and political circumstances that were marred by many difficulties and hardships, some of which almost broke his pen. However, he never deviated from his principles, which he vowed to adhere to; he lived and died loyal to them.
