Islam is the spirit of civilization
The author, Sheikh Mustafa Al-Ghalayini, states that his book came in response to Lord Cromer, the British representative in Egypt, in his book “Modern Egypt,” in which Cromer criticized Islam, claiming that it is a religion that is incompatible with civilization and is only suitable for the time and environment in which it exists, and that Muslims cannot ascend the ladder of civilization and urbanity unless they abandon their religion and reject the Qur’an and its commands outwardly, because it orders them to be lazy and fanatical, and instills in them a spirit of hatred for others, discord, and a love of revenge.
For all of this, Sheikh Mustafa Al-Ghalayini decided to write this book, “Islam, the Spirit of Civilization,” in which he responds to his claims and refutes his lies and false statements, proving that the Islamic religion is the best religion brought forth for mankind, and that it is the “spirit of civilization” and is suitable for all times and places, avoiding any harm to anyone other than the Islamic religion, out of his certainty that all religions command goodness and happiness, and in accordance with the words of God Almighty: (And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best), and the words of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: “Whoever enjoins what is right, let his enjoining be right.”
