The text of the forty nuclear hadith
The Forty on the Foundations of Islam and the Rules of Rulings, followed by a chapter on indications to control problematic words.
The Forty Hadiths of Nawawi is a book containing forty noble prophetic hadiths, collected by Imam Nawawi, who committed himself to collecting them so that they would be authentic. Al-Nawawi explained the reason for collecting the forty, saying:
Then he committed these forty hadiths to be authentic, and he deleted their chains of transmission to make them easier to memorize.
The author finished writing it on the night of Thursday, 29 Jumada al-Ula, 668 AH.
Al-Nawawi said in the introduction to his book about this hadith and the extent of his reliance on it in collecting the Forty Nawawi Hadiths: “The scholars have agreed on the permissibility of acting upon weak hadiths regarding the virtues of deeds. However, I do not rely on this hadith. Rather, I rely on his saying - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - in the authentic hadiths: ‘Let the one who is present among you inform the one who is absent.’ And his saying: ‘May God make fruitful the man who hears my words, understands them, and conveys them as he heard them.’”
