In the footsteps of the Messenger
This is because of the day of revelation, when I was not present to hold you close to my heart while you were trembling! And because of the day of Taif, when I was not present to repel the stones from you with my chest! And because of the day of Khadija’s death, when I was not present to wipe your tears and say to you: I would sacrifice my sandal for you! And because of the day of Uhud, when I was not present while you were wiping the blood from your noble face to protect you from that blow! And because of the shoulder of the poisoned sheep, when I was not present to eat it for you! This is because I believed in you even though I did not see you, and because I believed in you even though I did not hear from you, and because I loved you but did not let my eyes see you. May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
