Donkey sound
A satirical philosophical novel. Its hero is the donkey (Abu Saber). He narrates the events in his language, through his companionship with Sheikh (Ali). The novel attempts to compare between humans and animals, and reveals through the narration the nature and characteristics of humans.
The transformations of the donkey (Abu Saber) in the novel and the course of events highlight his positions on society and life. It presents the idea of the patience of donkeys, their endurance, and their great ability to understand and consider matters.
The donkey (Abu Saber) moves between more than one owner at first until he settles with Sheikh (Ali), who discovers that the donkey speaks clear, eloquent Arabic. He begins reading books to him, and from there the donkey’s journey with poetry, philosophy, and history begins. Through his tours with the Sheikh, he learns a lot. When he discovers that the Sheikh has a daughter whom he left alone at the age of two, he helps him search for her. During this search journey, he meets many people, talks to them, and reveals the shallowness of their thinking and ignorance. The Sheikh tours the villages of Jordan from the north to the south. Will this journey end with the Sheikh finding his daughter or not?
