world criticism

The book “Critique of the World” of about 180 pages opens up horizons for rethinking modern human reality, through treatments that place aspects attributed to modernity and beyond on the autopsy of criticism and scrutiny, which seeks to discover contradictions, reveal failures, and explore depths and diagnose hidden things.

In this book, researcher Hossam Shaker questions modern human reality, or takes on the task of judging some of its experiences and manifestations, through a combination that combines social, historical, philosophical, cultural, and psychological perspectives, without the book’s language being too heavy or its texts being too difficult for the reader, who may be motivated by this work to re-understand the world from new perspectives.

Among the topics related to the current event, i.e. the ongoing war of extermination against Gaza, is what is happening “outside the field of vision” available to the audience of the nations of modernity. The field of vision is still insufficient to enable the nations that declare their loyalty to modernity to perceive the general scene and be aware of its dimensions, circumstances, and its exorbitant costs, both realistically and morally.

The author also mentions that, “This field of vision is often determined by the scope of the collective self, ‘we’, and the ‘other’, who is morally reprehensible, is isolated in a way that prevents him from being included in the privileges of the collective self.”

It is as if the author is anticipating what happened at the same time as the book was published during the Gaza War when he narrates, for example, “Regimes that declare their loyalty to modernity - and beyond - are continuing their efforts to restrict the field of vision and prevent it from escaping beyond desired boundaries. They are keen to exclude the sensitive human being of their civilization from keeping up with what is happening in the field of brutal behavior reserved for the parties.”
