Statement in the Sciences of the Qur’an
The contents of the book are in twenty-one chapters. The author began by defining the sciences of the Qur’an, its benefits, and the honor of its sciences. Then he proceeded to explain twenty topics of the sciences of the Qur’an, as follows:
1- Revelation:
In it, the writer discussed the definition of revelation in language and terminology, and the uses of the word revelation in the Holy Qur’an. Then he explained the divisions of God Almighty’s revelation to His messengers and its method.
2- The revelation of the Holy Quran:
This section began by explaining some linguistic aspects of the meaning of revelation in language, and the difference between revelation and revelation. Then it addressed a number of topics related to this section, including: (The wisdom and benefits of the revelation of the Qur’an in parts, the time of revelation of the Holy Qur’an, the duration of revelation of the Qur’an, the day of revelation of the Qur’an, the month of revelation of the Qur’an, and the amount of revelation).
3- The first and last verses of the Holy Quran to be revealed:
This section includes: (The scholars’ statements on the first part of the Qur’an to be revealed in general, and the last part of the Holy Qur’an to be revealed, then the preference of the statements on the last part to be revealed, some of the problems that have been refuted, restricted beginnings and ends, and the benefits of this section).
4- Reasons for revelation:
In it, the writer discussed: (The importance of knowing the reasons for revelation, the books written about it, its definition, the way to know it, the concern of the Companions and Followers with the reasons for revelation, the benefits of knowing this topic, the formulas for the reasons for revelation, the divisions of the reasons for revelation, and the repetition of revelation).
5- Collection of the Holy Quran:
It is the longest chapter in the book, in which the author discusses a large number of topics, the most prominent of which are: (The Companions’ memorization of the Holy Qur’an - may God be pleased with them - the collection of the Holy Qur’an during the era of the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - the collection of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq - may God be pleased with him - the Uthmanic collection, the difference between the three collections of the Qur’an, the fate of the Uthmanic copies now, rejected doubts, the phonetic collection of the Qur’an in the modern era).
6- The revelation of the Holy Quran in seven letters:
This section deals with four topics: (Hadiths about the revelation of the Qur’an in seven letters, the most famous sayings about the meaning of the seven letters, do the Uthmanic copies of the Qur’an contain all the letters? The wisdom behind the revelation of the Qur’an in seven letters).
7- Meccan and Medinan in the Holy Quran:
The author explained the importance of this topic, the books on it, the definition of Meccan and Medinan, and the controls of each of Meccan and Medinan, then concluded it with the benefits of knowing it.
8- Stories of the Holy Quran:
This section deals with the meaning of stories in language and terminology, and the books written about them. Then the writer explains the types of stories in the Holy Qur’an, the benefits of Qur’anic stories, and the significance of repeating some of them in the Holy Qur’an. Then he concludes the section by responding to the suspicion of the historicity of Qur’anic stories.
9- Examples of the Holy Quran:
This section includes three topics: (compositions on Quranic proverbs, definition of proverb, types of proverbs in the Quran).
10- The oath in the Holy Quran:
It includes: (The works on oaths, the definition of oaths, their letters and types, the formula of the oath and its pillars, the conditions of the thing sworn upon, which is the answer to the oath, the combination of the condition and the oath, the deletion of the oath and its answer, what do the Creator and the creature swear by? The entry of the negative “la” into the verb of the oath, the thing sworn by in the Holy Qur’an).
11- Controversy in the Holy Quran:
This topic includes: (Controversy in language and terminology, books on it, types of debates in the Holy Qur’an and methods of reasoning, and some topics of debate in the Qur’an).
12- The order and place of the verses of the Holy Quran:
In this section, the author talked about the reasons for the advancement and delay in some verses of the Holy Qur’an.
13- The illusion of difference and contradiction in the Holy Quran:
The author referred to the most important books included in this topic, and the misleading reasons for the difference, while responding to the most prominent doubts.
14- Public and private:
It includes: (The forms of general words, the divisions of the general, the difference between the general that is intended to be specific and the specific general, conjunction with the general, the occurrence of the general for a specific reason, defining the specific and explaining the specific, specifying the Sunnah with the Qur’an).
15- The absolute and the restricted:
In it, the author referred to the rulings of the absolute and the restricted through some Qur’anic examples, then explained at the end of the discussion the benefit of applying the absolute to the restricted.
16- The spoken and the understood:
It includes: (The explicit text and its divisions, the implied text and its divisions, and the validity of the implied contradiction).
17- The clear and similar:
It includes: (General rulings and general similarity, specific rulings and specific similarity, is it possible to know the similar? The reprehensible interpretation, the wisdom of mentioning the similar, the types of the similar from the perspective of its origin, the verbal similarity).
18- Abrogation in the Holy Quran:
It is the second longest section in the book, and the author has given it great attention, as the author explains: the importance of the science of abrogation and abrogated verses, the difference between the concept of abrogation among the predecessors and its contemporary concept, the conditions of abrogation and its reality and the most important books on it, the difference between abrogation and specialization, the types of abrogation in the Holy Qur’an, and then a table of abrogated and abrogating verses.
19- Translation of the meanings of the Holy Quran:
It includes: (The history of translations of the Holy Qur’an, the sections of translation, the differences between translation and interpretation, examples of incorrect translations, and the ruling on reading in prayer in a language other than Arabic).
20- The Miracle of the Holy Quran:
In it, the author presented several topics, including: (the conditions of the miracle, the types of miracles, the miraculous amount of the Holy Qur’an, the linguistic and rhetorical miracle in the Qur’an, the scientific miracle in the Qur’an, the legislative miracle of the Qur’an, the opinions expressed in the saying of diversion, the miracle in the books of the Sunnis and other sects, and the miracle of the Qur’an in contemporary studies).
